Booth @ Central Clean and Green Sg NEA (Nov)

Ms Lee Jing, Senior Executive (3P Network Division), in National Environment Agency (NEA), invited Earth Society to participate in their Central Clean and Green Singapore Carnival in Nov. This is the 2nd year NEA invited us to participate in their event.

The Carnival was jointly organized by NEA and Central Singapore Community Development Council (CS CDC). This district-level carnival aims to educate the public on environmental issues such as anti-littering, energy efficiency, 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and Climate Action.

The Carnival was a 2 day event (16 to 17 Nov) held in City Square Mall at Farrer Park area. There were hands-on workshops, educational booths, stage performances/ talks at the event. The Guest of Honour for the event was Prof Yaacob Ibrahim, MP for Jalan Besar GRC. The host of the event was Ms Denise Phua, Mayor of Central Singapore District.

Earth society supported the event by setting up an educational booth at the event. Other organizations that participated in the event included: Just Love Crafts, Love Terrartum, Sprout Crafts and various primary school groups.

On 16 Nov, Earth Society volunteers set up a booth at the Clean and Green Carnival at 11.30 am. At our booth, we let the participants play a ‘GHG & Water usage’ Quiz. Participants learnt about the amount of Green House Gas (GHG) emitted to produce certain type of food as they completed the Quiz. They also learn about the amount of water needed to produce different types of food.

MP Prof Yaacob Ibrahim and Mayor Denise Phua visited our booth during the event. We have a short discussion on ways to reduce Climate change and we passed some Climate change booklets and Eco-leaflets to them.
We manned the booth from 11.30 am to 7.30 pm.

NEA organized many programs on the stage area throughout the 2-day event. There were Environmental skits, Acapella singing, Environmental talks and Quizzes on the stage. Earth Society conducted a Global Warming talk at the stage area from 3.50 pm to 4.10 pm. We presented on the effects of Global Warming on the planet and recommend ways to reduce Climate change (Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs).

We are glad that NEA and CDC are organizing more carnivals to promote Eco-living this year. We hope these carnivals will encourage Singaporeans to take more Climate Actions to protect the Earth and conserve the food and water resources on the planet.
