Assembly talk at Global Indian International School (Apr)

Ms Parameshwari, Primary coordinator of Global Indian International School (GIIS), invited Earth Society to conduct 2 Assembly talks for their students on 15 Apr. This is the 3rd year GIIS invited us to talk to their students. They invited us to their Queensway Campus in the previous 2 years. This year, they invited us to their Punggol Smart Campus to address the students.

On 15 Apr, Earth Society team reached Global Indian International School (Punggol Smart Campus) at 8.50 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk to a batch of primary level students from 9.15 am to 10 am.


We presented on the effects of Climate change on the world and showcased various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). We also touched on issues such as Deforestation and world hunger.

Students and teachers listened attentively to the talk and participated actively in the Quiz after the talk.

We conducted the same talk to another batch of students from 10.15 am to 11 am.






After the talk, we visited a Mahatma Gandhi exhibition area in the school. There are many exhibits of Gandhi on display, including books, photos and a life-size statue of Mahatma Gandhi! 

We left Global Indian International School with a few Quotes of Mahatma Gandhi resounding in our minds:

Assembly talk at National Junior College (Apr)

Mr Yalini Mohan Rajkumar, a JC2 student in National Junior College, invited Earth Society to conduct a 30 mins talk for the JC1 students on 10 Apr. Mr Yalini was the Student IC of NJC 2019 Earth Week Celebrations.

On 10 Apr, Earth Society team reached National Junior College at 2.45 pm.
We conducted a Global Warming talk for 550 JC1 students from 3 pm to 3.30 pm. We presented on the effects of Climate change on the world and showcased various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). We also touched on issues such as Deforestation and world hunger. Students and teachers listened attentively to the talk.

After the talk, Mr Ang Pow Chew, principal of NJC, went on stage to address the students. He encouraged the students to be more aware of environmental issues and to reduce consumption to preserve the resources on the planet.

I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation. I learnt something new, astonishing and thought-provoking on every slide of the presentation. I am sure this talk has sparked awareness, not only in me but others also. It would motivate many to take a step to eat less meat in order to play a role in being responsible to reduce Climate change.

Booth/ Assembly talk at Nan Hua High and Woodlands Secondary (Mar)

Mrs Eunice Goei, Subject Head, Innovation and Environment Education, in Nan Hua High School invited Earth Society to set up an educational booth in the school on 28 Mar in conjunction with Earth Hour. Nan Hua High had also invited Nature Society and other organizations to set up booths to promote the green message.

On 28 Mar, Earth Society team reached Nan Hua High at 10 am. We set up a booth in the school canteen from 10.15 am to 12.30 pm. At our booth, we showed Environmental video clips and passed Eco-leaflets to students. We promoted awareness on Climate change and ways to reduce green house gas.



During the event, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the Nan Hua High Parent Support Group had set up a booth to cook veggies for students who were having their recess. The PSG cooked green veggies, mushrooms, Indian veggie vadai etc and distributed them to students for sampling. They encouraged students to eat more veggies to promote Healthy Living/ Healthy eating.



Mr Ang Choon Peng, a teacher in Woodlands Secondary, invited Earth Society to set up a booth and conduct an Assembly talk for the upper secondary students on 29 Mar.

On 29 Mar, Earth Society team reached Woodlands Secondary at 9.25 am. We set up and manned a booth at the school canteen from 9.30 am to 11.15 am. We conducted a Global Warming talk for the Sec 3 and Sec 4 students from 11.55 am to 12,35 pm. We left the school at 12.40 pm.

Company talk and Booth @ Infineon Technologies (Mar)

Mr Edmond Ang, from Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd, invited Earth Society to participate in their annual Earth Week event on 25 Mar from 8.15 am to 11 am.

The company’s Earth week focus was on a holistic approach towards environment conservation. Besides clean energy and efficiency, the company wish to highlight the other facets of conservation like wildlife protection, saving water, plastic waste reduction etc.

On 25 Mar, Earth Society team reached Infineon Technologies at 8 am. We set up a booth at the company’s function room from 8.15 am to 10.30 am. We distributed Eco-website leaflets and let the staffs play a ‘GHG & Water usage’ Quiz at the booth.

We conducted a Global Warming talk for 100 staffs from 10.30 am to 11 am. We presented on the effects of Climate change on the world and showcased various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). We also touched on issues such as world hunger and water shortage.

The staffs listened attentively to the talk. At the end of the talk, many staffs came forward to sign up on our email list to get more info on Climate change.

Assembly talk @ Yumin and CHIJ Katong Primary (Mar)


Ms Cheryl Lao, a teacher in Yumin Primary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school on 26 Mar.

On 26 Mar, Earth Society team reached Yumin Primary at 7.20 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P1 to P6 students from 7.35 am to 8.05 am. We presented on how Global Warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Students listened attentively to the talk.

After the talk, we set up a booth in the school canteen from 8.15 am to 10.35 am. At our booth, we showed cartoon video clips and passed Eco-leaflets to students. Many students came forward to get more info on Climate change and provided feedback for the Assembly talk. We left Yumin Primary at 10.45 am.


Ms Normah Nordin, Green Effort Coordinator in CHIJ (Katong Primary), invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort on 27 Mar.

On 27 Mar, Earth Society team reached CHIJ Katong Primary at 11 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P1 to P6 students from 11.10 am to 12 pm. We left the school after the talk.

Assembly talk @ Jurong Primary (Mar)

Mr Yeong Hoong Munn, Green Club teacher in Jurong Primary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school on 11 Mar.

On 11 Mar, Earth Society team reached Jurong Primary at 7.45 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P1 to P6 students from 8 am to 8.30 am. We presented on how Global Warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Students listened attentively to the talk.

After the talk, we set up a booth in the school canteen from 8.40 am to 11 am. At our booth, we showed cartoon video clips and passed Eco-leaflets to students. Many students and teachers came forward to get more info on Climate change and gave feedback for the Assembly talk. We left Jurong Primary at 11 am.
