Ms Sumita Thiagarajan, Executive Director of Center for Responsible Future (previously known as “Vegetarian Society”), invited Earth Society to set up an educational booth at their EarthFest @ Plaza Singapura event from 28 Jun to 30 Jun.
EarthFest @ Plaza
Singapura was a week-long festival dedicated to all things sustainable with
workshops and activities taking place during the week finishing off with a
market place and stalls from Friday to Sunday from 11am to 8 pm. The
organizer invited NGOs such as ACRES, WWF, Animal Allies, PM Haze etc to set up
booths during the event.
On 28 Jun, Earth Society
team arrived at Plaza Singapura at 11 pm. We set up and man a booth from 11 am
to 8 pm. At our booth, we showed a short video clip on Climate change and displayed
a ‘GHG & Water usage’ Board. The shoppers who visited our booth learnt
about the amount of Green House Gas (GHG) emitted to produce certain types of
food as they read the Board. We also distributed Eco-leaflets to shoppers who
passed by our booth and spoke to those who were interested in protecting the
environment.
One funny incident that happened during the event was that a running ‘Dinosaur’ (called “The Last Living Dinosaur’ ) visited the booths on 29 Jun. The Dinosaur requested the people to protect the Earth to avoid the Extinction of the Human race !!
Earth Society team
supported the event on 28 Jun, 29 Jun and 30 Jun. There are a lot of shoppers
in Plaza Singapura as it is located in the Central of Singapore. We reached out
to many shoppers and many people signed up on our email list to receive more info on
Climate change.
