Mr Ong Han Yang, NTU
Earthlink Events Executive subcommittee, invited Earth Society to set up
a booth during their NTU GreenFest event on 19 & 20 Mar. This is the 6th
year NTU Earthlink invited us to their event. Other organizations that
participated in the event include Nature Society, Food Bank, Tzu Ji Youth and
PM Haze.
This year’s theme for Greenfest is “Towards A Zero-Waste
Future”.
Building on last year’s theme
of ‘Eco-ProMise’, where GreenFest participants made their promise to protect Mother
Earth, Earthlink wanted to bring the NTU community along to fulfil this promise
and start taking small actions towards a positive change that will bring NTU
closer to the dream of Zero Waste.
On 19 Mar, NTU
Earthlink invited Professor Kwok Kian Woon, Associate
Provost of Student Life, to grace the opening ceremony for EarthFest.
The opening ceremony was followed by a veggie lunch for the participating
organizations and the volunteers at the event
On 19 Mar, Earth Society members set up and manned a booth at NTU
LT1A Canopy K from 9 am to 5 pm. At our booth, students watched a 2 mins video
clip on “How Global Warming is affecting the world?”. After watching the clip,
they would answer 2 questions based on the video to get a stamp on their
GreenFest card. When they had completed the activities in their GreenFest card,
they could exchange the card for a token prize from NTU Earthlink.
At the end of the event, many students showed interest in the ways
to reduce global warming and signed up in our email list to receive more
information on environmental protection.
This year, we could only participate in GreenFest on 19 Mar as we were
engaged in another event on 20 Mar.
