Professor Michael Earley, Dean of Performing Arts in Lasalle College of the Arts, invited Earth Society to participate in their “Urgency: A Forum for Change” event on 24 Nov.

Prof Michael invited us to be part of a 4-person panellists to speak on the issue of Climate change and answer the questions from the audience.

The Forum panelists includes :
Professor Michael Earley, Dean of Performing Arts, Lasalle
David Glass, Director and Writer of “Requiem for Change” theatre play
Low Chip Khoon, Vice President, Earth Society (Singapore)
Peter Godfrey, Managing Director APAC (The Energy Institute)

On 24 Nov, Earth Society team reached Lasalle College (Singapore Airlines Theatre) at 3.30 pm. We participated in the ‘Urgency’ Forum from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

During the forum, we presented an overview of the UN IPCC Oct Special Report:: “Global Warming of 1.5 Deg C” and spoke of the urgency to reduce green house gas to curb climate change. We recommended climate actions such as reducing meat consumption, adopting veggie days to help to reduce individual carbon footprint and preserve the food and water resources on the planet. Mr Peter Godfrey spoke on reducing energy usage, renewable energy and a circular economy to reduce climate change while Mr David Glass spoke on Capitalism’s impact on Climate change. We had a fruitful discussion with 30 people who attended the forum.

We are glad that Lasalle college has organized a Climate change forum and hope that more Arts colleges will join in to raise the public’s awareness on environmental protection.
