Assembly talks @ St Hilda’s and St Anthony’s Canossian Primary (Apr)


Mr. Mohammad Noh, Subject Head for VIA and Partnership in St Hilda’s Primary, invited Earth Society to conduct 2 Assembly talks for the school cohort on 19 Apr.

On 19 Apr, Earth Society team reached St Hilda’s Primary at 11 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P1 to P3 students from 11.15 am to 11.45 am. We conducted another talk for P4 to P6 students from 12.15 pm to 12.45 pm. Teachers and students listened attentively to the talk.




Ms Ashley Mong, Science HOD of St Anthony's Canossian Primary, invited Earth Society to conduct 2 Assembly talks for the school cohort on 23 Apr.

On 23 Apr, Earth Society team reached St Anthony's Canossian Primary at 11 am. We were greeted by Mrs Lotus Koh who escorted us to the school hall for the Assembly talk. We conducted a Global Warming talk for P4 to P6 students from 11.15 am to 11.45 am. We conducted another talk for P1 to P3 students from 12.15 pm to 12.45 pm. Mrs Lotus Koh help us to compile some feedback from the teachers and email to us after the talk.

1) The seminar is very informative and educational.
2) The video clips are very entertaining yet very impactful and suitable for the students.
3) We learn a great deal about how consuming meat can do harm to the environment.

Company talk @ XP Power (Apr)

Ms Adeline Chew, PA Office Administrator at XP Power company, invited Earth Society to conduct a company talk for 40 staffs on 20 Apr.

On 20 Mar, Earth Society team reached XP Power at 1.45 pm. We conducted a Global Warming talk for 40 staffs from 2 pm to 3 pm. We presented on the effects of Climate change on the world and showcased various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs).

XP Power staffs paid full attention to the presentations. Many staffs came forward to give encouraging feedback after the talk.

新加坡生命堂环保讲座(4月)


新加坡生命堂(Singapore Life Church) 康乐中心经理,Ms Yong Shan Juan,邀请地球协会在4月中旬到新加坡生命堂为乐龄人士举办华文环保讲座。

我们在411日到新加坡生命堂,80 位乐龄人士和20位志工呈现1小时的《全球暖化》讲座。讲座中呈现了全球暖化对世界的影响(中国的水灾、美国的旱灾、北极的冰川融化等),也呈现了科学家们提出的解决方案(保护雨林、绿色能源、减少肉食、再循环等等)。我们也播放了中国明星提倡“周一无肉日的环保短片。

我们在讲座结束后分发环保手册/环保影碟给出席者。许多乐龄人士纷纷上前索取环保手册,并对环保活动表示支持。

Assembly talk @ Chung Cheng High and Woodland Rings Secondary (Apr)


Mrs Tan Jo-hsuan, Teacher in Chung Cheng High, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the Sec 1 students on 12 Apr. Chung Cheng High has invited us to speak to their students for 7 consecutive years (from 2012 to 2018).

On 12 Apr, Earth Society team reached Chung Cheng High at 2.20 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for the Sec 1 students from 2.35 pm to 3.30 pm. We presented on how Global Warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Students listened attentively to the talk and participated actively in the Quiz at the end of the talk.



Ms Shidah, Teacher in Woodlands Ring Secondary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort on 27 Apr.

On 27 Apr, Earth Society team reached Woodlands Ring Secondary at 10.25 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for Sec 1 to Sec 4 students from 10.40 am to 11.30 am. Students listened attentively to the talk and participated actively in the Quiz at the end of the talk. We left the school after the talk.

Assembly talk @ Yio Chu Kang, Teck Ghee and Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Primary (Apr)

Mr Ang Keng Kiat, HOD/CCE of Yio Chu Kang Primary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort on 09 Apr.

On 09 Apr, Earth Society team reached Yio Chu Kang Primary at 7.15 am. We were greeted by Mdm Jerine Ong who escorted us to the school hall.

We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P1 to P6 students from 7.40 am to 8.10 am. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Teachers and students listened attentively to the talk.

After the talk, we set up a booth at the canteen and manned the booth from 8.10 am to 11 am. Many students came forward to get more info on Climate change and gave feedback for the Assembly talk. We left Yio Chu Kang Primary at 11 am.

Mrs Esther Lee, HOD/PE of Teck Ghee Primary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort on 16 Apr.

On 16 Apr, Earth Society team reached Teck Ghee Primary at 10.30 am. We were greeted by Ms Alia Alkaff at the General Office. We conducted a Global Warming talk for their P1 to P6 students from 10.45 am to 11.15 am. We left the school after the talk.

On 17 Apr, we conducted a similar Assembly talk for the school cohort in Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Primary.



Teachers’ Feedback (from Yio Chu Kang Primary)
1) Very interactive and engaging talk .
2) Pupils enjoyed the talk.
3) Pupils were able to sit, listen and participate actively to answer the Quiz questions.
4) May need to slow down towards the end for the presentation as the pace was a bit fast.

Assembly talk @ Stamford Primary (Mar)


Mrs Lim Hwee Mian, Environment Team teacher in Stamford Primary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort on 21 Mar. This is the second time Stamford primary invited us to talk to the students.

On 21 Mar, Earth Society team reached Stamford Primary at 7.15 am. We were greeted by Ms Amelia in the school canteen. Ms Amelia was putting up some Global Warming Quiz Boards in the canteen.

We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P1 to P6 students from 7.40 am to 8.05 am. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Teachers and students listened attentively to the talk.

After the talk, students went to the canteen and read more info on Global Warming from the Quiz boards. They also had fun completing the Quiz questions on the boards.

Ms Amelia compiled some teachers’ feedback for the talk and email to us after the event.

NTU GreenFest 2018 (19 to 20 Mar)


Ms Tan Chai Wei, NTU Earthlink Events Executive Director, invited Earth Society to set up a booth during their NTU GreenFest event on 19 & 20 Mar. This is the 5th year NTU Earthlink invited us to their event. Other organizations that participated in the event include MEWR, Nature Society, Food Bank, Tzu Ji Youth, NParks, PM Haze etc.

This year’s theme for Greenfest is “Eco-ProMise”, which comprises the words Eco, Protect and Mission. The theme reflects Earthlink’s wish for every individual to educate themselves on environmental issues and bear the responsibility of safeguarding our environment.

On 19 Mar, NTU Earthlink invited Associate Provost (Student Life) Professor Kwok Kian Woon to grace the opening ceremony for EarthFest. The opening ceremony was followed by a veggie lunch for the participating organizations and the volunteers at the event. 

On 19 and 20 Mar, Earth Society members set up and manned a booth at NTU LT1A Canopy K from 9 am to 5 pm. At our booth, students watched a 2 mins video clip on “How Global Warming is affecting the world?”. After watching the clip, they would answer 2 questions based on the video to get a stamp on their GreenFest card. When they have completed the activities in their GreenFest card, they can exchange the card for a token prize from NTU Earthlink.

At the end of the event, many students showed interest in the ways to reduce global warming and signed up in our email list to receive more information on environmental protection.

Company talks @ Frasers Property Ltd (Mar)


Mr Kor Lee Kiong, Assistant Vice-President (Operations, Retail) in Frasers Property Ltd, invited Earth Society to conduct a company talk for 25 staffs on 06 Mar.

On 06 Mar, Earth Society team reached Frasers Property at 2.45 pm. We conducted a Global Warming talk for 25 staffs from 3 pm to 4 pm. We presented on the effects of Climate change on the world and showcased various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs).

Ms Elisa Mak, Sustainability Officer in Frasers Property, invited Earth Society to conduct a “Green Consumption” talk for another batch of company staffs on 09 Mar.

On 09 Mar, we conducted a “Green Consumption” talk for 20 staffs from 9.45 am to 10.45 am. We presented on Overfishing in our Oceans, Deforestation on our Land, World Hunger and Water Shortage. We also touched on issues such as No Shark fin, Reducing food waste, Veggie days and Ways to save water.

During the 2 talks, Frasers Property staffs paid full attention to the presentations. Many staffs came forward to give encouraging feedback after the talks.

Ms Nurul Huda, an English teacher in Spectra Secondary, invited Earth Society to conduct 2 Assembly talks for the Sec 2 students on 05 Mar and 06 Mar.

On 05 Mar, Earth Society team reached Spectra Secondary at 8 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for 88 Sec 2 students from 8.15 am to 9 am. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Students listened attentively to the talk and actively participated in the Quiz after the talk.

On 06 Mar, Earth Society team conduct another GW talk for another batch of 88 Sec 2 students from 9.40 am to 10.30 am.

Ms Chen Hui Jun, Humanities Subject Head in Yio Chu Kang Secondary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for school cohort on 09 Feb.

On 09 Feb, Earth Society team reached Yio Chu Kang Secondary at 11.05 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for Sec 1 to Sec 5 students from 11.20 am to 12.05 pm. Teachers and students listened attentively to the talk.

After the talk, we set up a booth at the canteen to gather feedback and pass more info to interested students and teachers. We manned the booth from 12.10 pm to 1.10 pm

On 29 Jan, Earth Society team reached Broadrick Secondary at 7.25 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for Sec 1 to Sec 3 students from 7.40 am to 8.25 am. Teachers and students listened attentively to the talk.

EarthFest @ Marina Barrage (Jan)


Michael Broadhead, organizer of EarthFest sustainability festival, invited Earth Society to participate in the event as an Educational partner. EarthFest was held at Marina Barrage on 14 Jan (Sun) from 11 am to 4.30 pm. This is the 3rd year we participated in this Eco-event.

This year’s EarthFest featured a Food Fair of delicious international and new age planet-friendly foods, a Farmer’s Market of local businesses with more sustainable products, an Eco-Carnival of engaging low carbon games, as well as other various opportunities such as Talks, Eco-Screenings, etc. There are over 120 stalls and the event has something for everyone.

EarthFest attracted 120 organizations and businesses to participate in the event. NGOs such as Sea Shepherd, Nature Society, PM Haze and Animal Allies set up booths during the event to inform the participants of issues such as Climate change, Deforestation, overfishing and biodiversity losses. The Eco-carnival gave the attendees a comprehensive view of Sustainability in Singapore. 





On 14 Jan, Earth Society members reached Marina Barrage at 10.30am. We set up a booth to showcase the issue of Deforestation in the world. Deforestation in Malaysia and Indonesia are mainly due to palm oil plantation while Deforestation in Brazil Amazon is mainly due to cattle ranching and the production of soya bean. Many participants were surprised to learn that 65% of Deforestation in Brazil Amazon is due to cattle ranching and that eating beef contributes to Deforestation in the world.

Company talks @ WorldPay APAC and Hermes SEA (Nov)

Ms Ethel Lee, Relationship Executive in WorldPay (APAC), invited Earth Society to conduct a company talk for the staffs on 17 Nov.

On 17 Nov, Earth Society team reached WorldPay (UOB Plaza) at 9.15 am. We conducted a Global Warming talk for 40 staffs from 9.30 am to 10.30 am We presented on the effects of Climate change on the world and showcased various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs).

WorldPay staffs listened attentively to the talk. At the end of the talk, many staffs came forward to provide encouraging feedback for the talk.


Ms Celine Khoo, CSR intern at Hermes South East Asia Pte Ltd, invited Earth Society to conduct a company lunch talk for the staffs on 20 Nov.

On 20 Nov, Earth Society team conducted a Global Warming talk for 80 staffs from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm. Hermes South East Asia staffs listened attentively to the talk.
Many staffs signed up in our email list to get more info on Global Warming after the talk.

Booth @ Science Carnival at WRPS (Nov)

Mdm Mazlindah, Environment Education Advisor in Woodlands Ring Primary School, invited Earth Society to participate in their Science Carnival on 09 Nov.

Students of Woodlands Ring Primary and invited students from the primary schools in the N5 cluster (Qihua PS, Woodgrove PS, Evergreen PS, Admiralty PS and Marsiling PS) were scheduled to participate in hands-on activity at the booths in the school hall during the carnival. 

0n 09 Nov, Earth Society members arrived at Woodland Rings Primary at 8.30 am. We set up a booth and projected some environmental animations onto the wall of the hall. Students who visited our booth watched environmental cartoons such as “Animals save the Planet” and WWF animations at the booth. We also distributed “Eco-kids website” leaflets and “Green and Healthy Monday” leaflets to students. 

We manned the booth from 8.30 am to 2 pm.

On 07 Nov, Earth Society team reached Catholic High Primary at 12 pm. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P4 to P6 students from 12.15 to 12.45 pm. Students listened attentively to the talk and actively participated in the Quiz after the talk.
