Global Warming talk @ Raffles Girls School and Jurong Secondary (Oct)

Ms Adeline Quek, Admin Executive of Raffles Girls’ School, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the Sec 2 students on 24 Oct.

On 24 Oct, Earth Society team reached Raffles Girls’ School at 11 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for the Sec 2 students from 11.15 am to 12.15 pm. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Students listened attentively to the talk and participated actively in the Quiz after the talk. Many students came forward to write some feedback for the talk after the Assembly program.




Ms Calista Fang, teacher-in-charge of NPCC in Jurong Secondary, invited Earth Society to conduct a Global Warming talk for the NPCC students on 25 Oct.

On 25 Oct, Earth Society team conducted a talk for 50 NPCC cadets and 20 Green Club students from 3.15 to 4.15 pm. Students listened attentively to the talk and participated actively in the Quiz after the talk.

华社CDAC环保讲座 (9月至11月)

华社自助理事会(CDAC) 幸福乐龄执行员,张依宁女士,邀请地球协会到华社中心为乐龄人士举办华文环保讲座。

我们在9月至11月间 到4个华社中心(宏茂桥、武吉邦让、榜鹅和油池)为乐龄人士呈现1小时的《全球暖化》讲座。讲座中呈现了全球暖化对世界的影响(中国的水灾、美国的旱灾、北极的冰川融化等),也呈现了科学家们提出的解决方案(保护雨林、绿色能源、减少肉食、再循环等等)。

每场讲座有2540位乐龄人士出席。我们在讲座结束后分发环保手册/环保影碟给出席者。许多乐龄人士非常喜欢环保手册中的素食食谱,还纷纷上前询问怎么煮美味的素食。

Global Warming talks @ PSA Corporation (Sep)

In Sep, Earth Society team received 2 invitations from PSA Corporation to speak to their staffs.

The first invitation was from Mr Willy Jong, HSSE Representative from Singapore Terminal 1 (ST1), to speak to their staff at Tanjong Pangar Terminal on 25 Sep.

The second invitation was from Mdm Peggy Lee, Manager (Green Port Culture) in Environment Department, to speak to their staff at PSA Building on 27 Sep.

On 25 Sep, Earth Society team reached Tanjong Pagar Distripark at 3.15 pm.

We conducted a Global Warming talk for 50 staffs from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm. We presented on the effects of Climate change on the world and showcase various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs).





On 27 Sep, Earth Society team reached PSA Building at 12.15 pm. Ministry of Environment and Water Resource (MEWR) officer presented on Sustainable Singapore Blue Print from 12.30 pm to 1 pm. We presented on Global Warming from 1 pm to 1.30 pm. About 50 staffs attended the talk.

For both talks, PSA staffs listened attentively to the presentation. At the end of the talk, many staffs came forward to write some feedback for the talk and sign up on our email list.

Assembly talk @ Zheng Hua Primary (Sep)

Mr Alex Chew, HOD Science in Zheng Hua Primary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort on 25 Sep.

On 25 Sep, Earth Society team reached Zheng Hua Primary at 7.30 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P1 to P6 students from 7.30 am to 7.55 am. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Teachers and students listened attentively to the talk.

After the talk, Mr Alex Chew help us to compile some feedbacks from the teachers and send it to us by email.

Teacher’s Feedback :

- The pace of the talk was just right. The speaker was articulate and dear. It would have been great if there could be a quiz to engage the students further.

- Language used with students is good as it explains the basics such that even P1 can understand. However, the speaker rushed through the last few slides due to time constrain.

Global Warming talk @ IRAS (Aug)

In Aug 2017, Mr Samuel Lim, Senior Officer (LEAD Office) in Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS), invited Earth Society to conduct a company lunch talk for the staffs.

On 21 Aug, Earth Society team reach IRAS at 11.45 am. We conducted a Global Warming lunch talk for 60 staffs from 12 to 1 pm. We presented on the effects of Climate change on the world and showcase various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs).

IRAS staffs listened attentively to the talk. At the end of the talk, many staffs came forward to sign up on our email list to receive more info on environment matters.

Green and Healthy Festival @ Sing Expo (Aug)

Kampung Senang invited Earth Society to participate in the Green and Healthy festival @ Sing Expo Hall 6A on 19 Aug to 20 Aug. This is the second year Kampung Senang held the Green and Healthy Festival at Sing Expo.

The Green and Healthy Festival seeks to create an awareness on the myriad of eco and positive lifestyle practices that a modern individual can adopt for our own health and to protect the planet.

The event features Eco-talks, Health talks, food cooking demonstration, music performance at the stage area. There are also educational booths, veggie food booths, farmers market for the family to enjoy.



Earth Society volunteers help to man a booth in the event. We let the participants play a ‘GHG & Water usage’ Quiz at our booth. Participants will learn about the amount of Green House Gas (GHG) emitted to produce certain type of food as they completed the Quiz at the booth.

Our volunteer also put on the costume of a chicken and parade around to showcase the message of “Less Meat, Less Heat” in the event.
We congratulate Kampung Senang for a successful Green and Healthy Festival this year and wish more organizations will join in the Green movement to protect the planet.

Assembly talk @ East Spring Primary (Aug)

Ms Jiang Yanni, Environment Committee Teacher in East Spring Primary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort on 07 Aug.

On 07 Aug, Earth Society team reached East Spring Primary at 10.30 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P1 to P6 students from 10.45 to 11.15 am. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Teachers and students listened attentively to the talk.

After the talk, Ms Jiang Yanni helped us to compile some feedbacks from the teachers and send it to us by email.

Teacher’s Feedback :

- The videos shown to the students were engaging and effective. Students were able to relate to it.
- Overall the content covered was good, just need to slow down a bit more. Okay if have to cut down on certain parts.

Assembly talk @ Bukit View Secondary and Gan Eng Seng School (Jul)

Mr Tan Chong Han, teacher-in-charge for Environmental Clubin Bukit View Secondary invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the lower secondary students on 07 Jul.

On 07 Jul, Earth Society team reached Bukit View Secondary at 11.45 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for Sec 1 and Sec 2 students from 12 to 12.40 pm. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs.) Students and teachers listened attentively to the talk. We left the school after the talk.

Ms Thng Lay Keng, a teacher in Gan Eng Seng School, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the lower secondary students on 11 Jul.

On 11 Jul, Earth Society team conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for the Sec 1 and Sec 2 students from 1 pm to 1.30 pm. Students and teachers listened attentively to the talk. We left the school after the talk.

Company talk @ Shell Eastern Petroleum (Jun)

In Jun 2017, Mr Jimmy Yeo, HSSE Advisor in Shell Eastern Petroleum (Pte) Ltd, invited Earth Society to conduct a company talk for their staffs in Singapore Petrochemical Complex (A chemical complex in Jurong Island made up of 8 different companies).

This is the first time we get an invitation to conduct a talk in Jurong Island.

On 23 Jun afternoon, Mr Jimmy Yeo meet us at Jurong Island Checkpoint to assist us to get a pass to enter Jurong Island. We conducted a Global Warming talk for 60 staffs from 2 to 3 pm. We presented on the effects of Climate change on the world and showcase various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Singapore Petrochemical Complex Staffs listened attentively to the talk. At the end of the talk, many staffs came forward to sign up on our email list to receive more info on environment matters.

On 16 May, Earth Society team reached CHIJ Secondary at 9.45 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for the Sec 1 students from 10 am to 11 am. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs.) Students listened attentively to the talk and participated actively in the Quiz at the end of the talk.

Assembly talk @ Global Indian International School and Canossa Convent Primary (May)

Ms Parameshwari, Primary coordinator of Global Indian International School, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the primary students on 04 May. This is the 2nd year the school invited us to talk to their students.

On 04 May, Earth Society team reached Global Indian International School (Queensway) at 7.30 am. We conducted an Assembly talk on “Environment Conservation” from 9.45 am to 10.45 am. We presented on the situation of Overfishing in our Oceans, Deforestation on our Land, and Green house gas emissions in our Atmosphere. We also touched on issues such as biodiversity losses, factory farming, climate change and water shortage.

Students and teachers listened attentively to the talk and participated actively in the Quiz after the talk.

The presentation was informative and persuasive. It would develop the knowledge needed in all of us to address the current and emerging environmental issues. On 18 May, Earth Society team reached Canossa Convent Primary at 7.55 am. Ms Joslyn Chew greeted us and escorted us to the school hall. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P1 to P6 students from 8.10 to 8.40 am. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs.)

After the talk, we set up and man a booth in the school canteen from 8.45 am to 10.30 am.

Global Warming talk @ Fei Yue Community Service (Apr)

Fei Yue Community Service organized a Go Green event for their staff on 05 Apr at True Way Presbyterian Church. As part of the Go Green event, Ms Janet Koo invited Earth Society to conduct a Global Warming talk for 350 Fei Yue Community Service staffs attending the event.

On 05 Apr, Earth Society team reached True Way Presbyterian Church at 4.15 pm.
We conducted a Global Warming talk for Fei Yue staffs from 4.30 to 5.30 pm. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs.)

The staffs listened attentively to the talk. After the talk, some staffs came forward to sign up on our email list to get more info on environment issues.

- Helpful suggestions given on how, as individuals, we can do our part to be more environmentally conscious and reduce global warming.

Global Warming talk @ Hwa Chung Institution (JC) [ Apr ]

Hwa Chong Institution (College) Green Council organises a Clean and Green week every year. During the week, HCI Green Council organizes programs to expose students to the multitude of environmental issues that humans face, introduce environmental conservation efforts and encourage students to adopt more environmentally-friendly habits to reduce their impact on the environment. 

As part of the Clean and Green Week program this year, Ms Nicole Han, HCI Green Council member, invited Earth Society to conduct a Global Warming talk for the JC1 and JC 2 students on 21 Apr.

On 21 Apr, Earth Society team reached Hwa Chong Institution at 3.10 pm. Ms Nicole Han met us at the gate and escorted us to the HCI auditorium. We conducted a Global Warming talk for the JC 1 and JC 2 students from 3.30 to 4 pm. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs.)

After the talk, we pass some feedback forms to the Green Council members for them to compile some feedback for the talk. Ms Nicole Han helped to collate the feedback and send them to us via email.



Students’ Feedback:

The speaker was extremely knowledgeable, and made an extremely great impact on me, especially when he explained the consequences of humans' destructive actions on the Arctic. He incorporated short videos into the speech, and was thus able to hold the attention of the crowd well. The brochures given out were also very effective as students could relate to its contents, and some peers have actually talked about going more veggie after reading the brochure, which I felt was a good start and first step to reducing agricultural demands in society. I am really thankful and appreciative of this seminar by Earth Society, as it provides a more concrete platform for students to learn how to play a part in protecting Mother Earth.

Assembly talk @ Chung Cheng High and Fu Chun Secondary (Apr)

On behalf of the Environment Education Committee in Chung Cheng High, Ms Peggy Yap invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the Sec 1 students on 20 Apr. Chung Cheng High has invited us to speak to their students for 6 consecutive years (from 2012 to 2017).

On 20 Apr, Earth Society team conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for the Sec 1 students from 2.35 to 3.30 pm. Students listened attentively to the talk and participated actively in the Quiz at the end of the talk. We left the school after the talk.





Ms Leow Lea Ching from Fu Chun Secondary invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort on 26 Apr. On 26 Apr, we conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for the Sec 1 to Sec 5 students from 12.30 to 1.10 pm. After the talk, we set up and manned a booth at the school canteen from 1.10 to 2.30 pm.

Assembly talk @ Keming, First Toa Payoh, Admirality and Cedar Primary (Apr)

Ms Karen Kwan, HOD CCD in Keming Primary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the upper primary on 10 Apr.

On 10 Apr, Earth Society team reached Keming Primary at 7.30 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P3 to P6 students from 7.45 to 8.15 am. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Teachers and students listened attentively to the talk.

After the talk, Ms Karen Kwan helped us to compile some feedbacks from the upper primary teachers and send it to us by email. We are greatly encouraged by the positive feedbacks given by the teachers.

Mr Sim Eak Bian from Cedar Primary invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort on 25 Apr. On 25 Apr, we conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P1 to P6 students from 7.45 to 8.15 am. We left the school after the talk.

Assembly talk @ Queenstown, Whitley and Ngee Ann Secondary (Apr)

Mr Chia Teck Seng, Green Committee teacher in Queenstown Secondary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the lower secondary students on 03 Mar.

On 03 Mar, Earth Society team reached Queenstown Secondary at 12.45 pm. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for Sec 1 and Sec 2 students from 1 to 2 pm. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs.) We also presented on global water usage and what we can do to save water.

After the talk, we set up a booth at the school canteen from 2 to 3 pm. Many students came forward to get more info on global warming and write some feedback for the talk.

As part of the program for Whitley Secondary’s Environment week, Mdm Shrila Balachandran, Subject Head (Chemistry), invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort on 13 Apr. On 13 Apr, we conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for Sec 1 to Sec 4 students from 1.20 to 2.10 pm.

Mr Vincent Tang from Ngee Ann Secondary invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the lower secondary students 18 Apr. On 18 Apr, we conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for Sec 1 and Sec 2 students from 1 to 1.30 pm. We set up and manned a booth at the school canteen from 1.30 to 2.30 pm.
