International Volunteer Day @ Temasek Poly (Nov)

Temasek Polytechnic Community Service Club (TPCSC) invited Earth Society to set up a booth during their International Volunteer Day event on 28 and 29 Nov to promote environmental awareness in Temasek Poly.

TPCSC get to know about Earth Society through TP Green Interest Group (TPGIG) which invited us to conduct a Global Warming talk in a previous event.

TPCSC also invited other NGOs such as Food Bank, Lion’s Befrienders and Club Rainbow to promote their causes in this event.

On 28 and 29 Nov, Earth Society team set up a booth in Temasek Poly to pass Eco-leaflets to the students. Students can also play a Quiz of guessing the amount of Green House Gas (GHG) produced when we produce different types of food.

The location of the booth is just outside the Library. Thus, we have a good flow of traffic and many students came to our booth to get Eco info from us. We manned the booth from 11 am to 3 pm on both days.

Ms Charlotte Gayondato, volunteer Leader of TPCSC, wrote us an appreciation email after the event : “I would like to thank Earth Society for participating in International Volunteer Day 2016 ! I hope you have had a positive experience in Temasek Polytechnic and collaborating with TPCSC. “

We are glad that many student groups are initiating programs to promote various causes in their school campus. May the youths show care and concern to the society and take actions to build a more sustainable future for everyone.

Mr Kasni Kasim, Senior Teacher (CCE), from Canberra Primary School invited Earth Society to conduct 2 Assembly talks for the school on 01 Nov.

On 01 Nov, Earth Society team reached Canberra Primary School at 11.45 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for the P1 and P2 students from 12 to 12.30 pm. We conducted another talk for the P3 to P6 students from 1 to 1.30 pm.
We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs.) Students and teachers listened attentively to the talk.

Teacher's Feedback:
Thank you for coming today to share about the global warming issue and Earth Conservation. The teachers really found it useful to inform the students on the need to care for the environment as it will indirectly affect the whole Earth. The students are more aware of the importance of reflecting their actions that may impact the environment.  - Mr Kasni Kasim, Senior Teacher (CCE), Canberra Primary
