NTU GreenFest Synergy (23 Mar)

Mr Foong Wei Xiong from Nanyang Technological University Earthlink invited Earth Society to set up a booth during their NTU GreenFest Synergy event on 23 Mar. This is the 2nd year NTU Earthlink invited us to their event. Other organizations participating in the event includes NParks, Nokia, The Dorsal Effect etc.

On 23 Mar, NTU Earthlink invited Dr Vivan Balakrishnan, Minster for the Environment and Water Resource, to grace the opening ceremony for EarthFest. At the opening address, Dr Vivan spoke of the importance of taking care of the environment, recycling and green energy. Dr Vivan also paid a tribute to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, founding father of modern Singapore, as Mr Lee had passed away on the morning of 23 Mar.

Earth Society members set up and manned a booth at NTU Nanyang Auditorium from 10 am to 4pm. At our booth, students watched a 2 mins video clip on “How Global Warming is affecting the world?” and answered 2 questions based on the video. They would then play a board game where they have to push a bottle cap to a line between 1 to 2 degrees to win the game. The game implied that we have to limit the increase in temperature (in the world) within a 2 degrees limit to avoid huge, undesirable changes in the climate system.

At the end of the day, many students showed interest in the topic of Climate change and sign up in our email list to receive more information on environmental protection.
