Global Warming talks @ PSA Corporation (Sep)

In Sep, Earth Society team received 2 invitations from PSA Corporation to speak to their staffs.

The first invitation was from Mr Willy Jong, HSSE Representative from Singapore Terminal 1 (ST1), to speak to their staff at Tanjong Pangar Terminal on 25 Sep.

The second invitation was from Mdm Peggy Lee, Manager (Green Port Culture) in Environment Department, to speak to their staff at PSA Building on 27 Sep.

On 25 Sep, Earth Society team reached Tanjong Pagar Distripark at 3.15 pm.

We conducted a Global Warming talk for 50 staffs from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm. We presented on the effects of Climate change on the world and showcase various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs).





On 27 Sep, Earth Society team reached PSA Building at 12.15 pm. Ministry of Environment and Water Resource (MEWR) officer presented on Sustainable Singapore Blue Print from 12.30 pm to 1 pm. We presented on Global Warming from 1 pm to 1.30 pm. About 50 staffs attended the talk.

For both talks, PSA staffs listened attentively to the presentation. At the end of the talk, many staffs came forward to write some feedback for the talk and sign up on our email list.

Assembly talk @ Zheng Hua Primary (Sep)

Mr Alex Chew, HOD Science in Zheng Hua Primary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort on 25 Sep.

On 25 Sep, Earth Society team reached Zheng Hua Primary at 7.30 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P1 to P6 students from 7.30 am to 7.55 am. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Teachers and students listened attentively to the talk.

After the talk, Mr Alex Chew help us to compile some feedbacks from the teachers and send it to us by email.

Teacher’s Feedback :

- The pace of the talk was just right. The speaker was articulate and dear. It would have been great if there could be a quiz to engage the students further.

- Language used with students is good as it explains the basics such that even P1 can understand. However, the speaker rushed through the last few slides due to time constrain.

Global Warming talk @ IRAS (Aug)

In Aug 2017, Mr Samuel Lim, Senior Officer (LEAD Office) in Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS), invited Earth Society to conduct a company lunch talk for the staffs.

On 21 Aug, Earth Society team reach IRAS at 11.45 am. We conducted a Global Warming lunch talk for 60 staffs from 12 to 1 pm. We presented on the effects of Climate change on the world and showcase various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs).

IRAS staffs listened attentively to the talk. At the end of the talk, many staffs came forward to sign up on our email list to receive more info on environment matters.

Green and Healthy Festival @ Sing Expo (Aug)

Kampung Senang invited Earth Society to participate in the Green and Healthy festival @ Sing Expo Hall 6A on 19 Aug to 20 Aug. This is the second year Kampung Senang held the Green and Healthy Festival at Sing Expo.

The Green and Healthy Festival seeks to create an awareness on the myriad of eco and positive lifestyle practices that a modern individual can adopt for our own health and to protect the planet.

The event features Eco-talks, Health talks, food cooking demonstration, music performance at the stage area. There are also educational booths, veggie food booths, farmers market for the family to enjoy.



Earth Society volunteers help to man a booth in the event. We let the participants play a ‘GHG & Water usage’ Quiz at our booth. Participants will learn about the amount of Green House Gas (GHG) emitted to produce certain type of food as they completed the Quiz at the booth.

Our volunteer also put on the costume of a chicken and parade around to showcase the message of “Less Meat, Less Heat” in the event.
We congratulate Kampung Senang for a successful Green and Healthy Festival this year and wish more organizations will join in the Green movement to protect the planet.

Assembly talk @ East Spring Primary (Aug)

Ms Jiang Yanni, Environment Committee Teacher in East Spring Primary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort on 07 Aug.

On 07 Aug, Earth Society team reached East Spring Primary at 10.30 am. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for P1 to P6 students from 10.45 to 11.15 am. We presented on how Global warming is affecting the world and showcased various solutions to climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). Teachers and students listened attentively to the talk.

After the talk, Ms Jiang Yanni helped us to compile some feedbacks from the teachers and send it to us by email.

Teacher’s Feedback :

- The videos shown to the students were engaging and effective. Students were able to relate to it.
- Overall the content covered was good, just need to slow down a bit more. Okay if have to cut down on certain parts.
