GW Talk @ Greenridge Secondary (Feb)

Mr Terence, HOD (Science), from Greenridge Secondary, invited Earth Society to conduct a Global Warming Assembly talk for the Sec 1 students on 10 Feb 2025.

Mr Terence informed that Greenridge Secondary students are engaged in an eco-initiative where they cultivate various vegetables in outdoor soil planters to support Singapore's 30-by-30 food security goal. Some of the harvested produce are used in their school canteen as part of their farm-to-table concept, while the rest are donated to organizations supporting the elderly.

On 10 Feb, Earth Society team reached Greenridge Secondary at 7.45 am. We conducted a Global Warming talk for the Sec 1 students from 2 pm to 3 pm.

We presented on how Global Warming is affecting the world (Droughts, Forest fires, Flash floods in Singapore, Arctic Ice melt etc). We showcased various Solutions to Climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy and 3Rs). We touched on environmental issues such as Deforestation, the Global usage of food/ water resources and World Hunger. We also incorporated Singapore’s 30-by-30 food security plan in our presentation.

Students and teachers listened attentively to the talk. After the talk, Mr Terence helped to compile some feedback from teachers and emailed us.
