Assembly Talk @ Naval Base, Coral, Damai Primary (Feb)

Naval Base Primary invited Earth Society to conduct a Global Warming Assembly talk for the school cohort on 22 Feb.

Mr Bryan Poh, HOD Science, greeted us when we arrive at the school on 22 Feb.
We conducted an Assembly talk from 7.50 to 8.20 am. We presented on how climate change affected the world and showcase solutions that scientists recommended to reduce global warming. We set up a booth in the canteen from 8.30 till 11 am to gather feedback and pass more info to interested teachers and students.

On 25 Feb, Coral Primary invited Earth Society to conduct a Global Warming Assembly talk for their P1 to P6 students. We conduct an Assembly talk for the school from 12.40 to 1.10 pm.

On 29 Feb, Damai Primary invited us to set up a booth and conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort.

On 29 Feb, we set up a booth at the school canteen from 9.30 to 10.30am. We conduct a Global Warming talk to the students from 10.40 to 11.10 am. Students listened attentively to the talk and participated actively in the Quiz at the end of the talk.

Damai Primary has already implement Health Promotion Board’s “My Healthy Plate” in the school canteen. The canteen stalls sell Bento sets which consist of a portion of rice/ noodles, a portion of vegetables, a portion of fruits and a portion of meat.

Bravo to the school and we wish many schools would implement HPB’s “My Healthy Plate” which is healthier for the students and better for the environment.

Feedback from Teachers:

Good & informative delivery with wonderfully apt video clips to show the students about the natural phenomenon. Presenter has a lot to share with the students. Certainly a choc-ful of information for an assembly talk ! Good follow-up by Earth Society to allow the extension of the talk during recess.
- Ms Siti Fauziah Jasman, Teacher, Naval Base Primary

It's very informative, not only for students but for teachers as well. The audience was engaged during the talk. Most useful, in this time of worldwide climate change.
- Mrs Amy Jow, Teacher, Learning Support Coordinator, Naval Base Primary

Feedback from Students:

I love the assembly talk because I learnt so much about what causes global warming and how to save Mother Earth.
– Nurul Laiyina, NBP, P5 student

I like the talk. I think that Veggie Thursday is meaningful. I hope to help the hungry people in the world, help the polar bears and others. – Hui Yi, NBP, P4 student

I feel that the talk is very useful and important to students like me. I did not know that eating meat contributes to global warming. But anyway, I always eat veggies 6 days a week!  Save my Earth !! – Anshu, NBP, P6 student
