Assembly Talk @ Chung Cheng High (28 May)

Mr See Sze Ping ( Clean and Green Committee teacher in Chung Cheng High) invited Earth Society to conduct a Global Warming Assembly talk for the Sec 1 students on 28 May. This the 4th year that Chung Cheng High invited Earth Society to the school.

On 28 May, Earth Society members reached Chung Cheng High at 9.15am. Ms Koh Xiao Woon greeted us at the school. 
We conducted an Assembly talk for the Sec 1 students from 9.15 to 10 am. We presented on how global warming is affecting the planet and showcased various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change.
The talk was well-received by the students and teachers.

Company Lunch talk @ Makino Asia (19 May)


As part of their CSR week (Charity and Society week), Ms Janice Chng, HR officer in Makino Asia Pte Ltd, invited Earth Society to conduct a company lunch talk to 30 Makino employees on 19 May.

On 19 May, Earth Society members reached Makino Asia at 11.45am. We conducted a Global Warming talk from 12 to 12.50pm. We presented on the effects of global warming on the world (i.e Arctic Ice melt, Droughts, floods, Sea level rise etc) and how climate change affects Singapore. (Flash floods, Dry spells). We also showcased various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change (i.e. Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green Energy, 3Rs) and what we as an individual can do to help to reduce green house gas emissions. Makino staffs listened attentively to the talk and many came forward to sign up in our email list after the talk.


We observe that the Green trend is reaching the companies as more companies now have environment week and are inviting green organizations to conduct environmental lunch talk for their staffs.

Assembly talk @ Riverside Primary (08 May)

To celebrate Earth Day, Ms Ang Hwee Tit, a teacher of Riverside Primary, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the P1 to P3 students on 08 May.

On 08 May, Earth Society members reached Riverside Primary at 7.45 am. We conducted a Global Warming talk (lower primary version) for the P1 to P3 students from 8 to 8.30am. Students listened attentively to the talk and participated actively in the Quiz after the talk.


After the Assembly talk, we left the school at 8.50 am.

Assembly talk @ Hai Seng Catholic School (28 Apr)

Ms Koh Hsing Dee, Subject head (Biology) of Hai Seng Catholic School, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the Sec 1 and Sec 2 students on 28 Apr.

On 28 Apr, Earth Society members arrived at Hai Seng Catholic School. We were greeted by Mr Cheng Yi Ming, a teacher from the Green committee. 






We conducted a Global Warming talk for the Sec 1/ Sec 2 students from 12.30pm to 1.20pm. After the talk, as part of SG 50 activities, a senior teacher went on stage to share his 40 years of teaching experience with the students.

After the Assembly talk, we set up a booth at the school canteen to gather feedback from students and passed more info to interested teachers and students. We manned the booth from 1.30 to 2.30pm.

Assembly talk @ Nanyang Girls High (23 Apr)

Ms Glenda Foo, Environment Club Student leader in Nanyang Girls High, invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the Sec 4 students on 23 Apr.

On 23 Apr, Earth Society members arrived at Nanyang Girls High at 1.45pm. We conducted a Global Warming Assembly talk for the Sec 4 students from 2 pm to 2.45pm.

We presented on the effects of global warming on the world (i.e Arctic Ice melt, Droughts, floods, Sea level rise etc) and how climate change affects Singapore. (Flash floods, Dry spells). We also showcased various solutions that scientists recommended to curb climate change (i.e. Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green Energy, 3Rs) and what we as an individual can do to help to reduce green house gas emissions. Students paid full attention to the talk.

After the Assembly talk, we request students who are interested to come forward to collect extra info on Climate change. Many students approached us to provide feedback for the talk.

Assembly talk @ CHIJ Toa Payoh Primary (22 Apr)

Mrs Alice Choo from CHIJ Toa Payoh Primary invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk for the school cohort on 22 Apr. This is the second time the school invited Earth Society to conduct a talk.

On 22 Apr, Earth Society members arrived at Toa Payoh Primary on 12.50 pm. We conducted an Environmental Assembly talk for the school cohort from 1pm to 1.35pm. We presented on Overfishing, Deforestation, Animal factory farms and Green house gas emissions. We also introduced some eco-Heros (e.g. Sea Shepherd, Dr Jane Goodall etc) to the students.

Teachers and students were very attentive during the entire presentation.

After the Assembly talk, we left the school at 2pm.

Assembly talk @ Gan Eng Seng Primary (20 Apr)

In conjunction with Earth Week, Ms Ng Run Ling from Gan Eng Seng Primary invited Earth Society to conduct an Assembly talk to the school cohort on 20 Apr.

On 20 Apr, Earth Society team reached Gan Eng Seng Primary at 9.30 am. We set up a booth at the school canteen during the students’ recesses from 9.30 to 11.05 am. We distributed eco-website leaflets to students visiting our booth. 




Ms Ng and Green committee teachers also set up a booth to showcase cartoons on protecting the planet to the students.

At 11.10am, we proceed to the school hall to conduct the Assembly talk. We presented on the effects of climate change on different parts of the world (Arctic ice melt, Droughts, Floods, Sea level rise etc). We also showcased various solutions to curb climate change. (Plant trees, Eat less meat, Green energy, 3Rs). We showed various animation clips to the students during the presentation. Students and teachers enjoyed the presentation very much.
After the Assembly talk, we left the school at 11.50 am.

Assembly talk @ Peirce Secondary (14 & 21 Apr)

 To celebrate Earth Day in Apr, Mrs Irene Ong from Peirce Secondary invited Earth Society to conduct 2 Assembly talks for the school cohort. We conduct an Assembly talk to the Sec 3 students on 14 Apr and an Assembly talk to the Sec 1 and Sec 2 students on 21 Apr. Both Assembly talks were conducted from 8.45 to 9.30am. Students participated actively in the Quiz after the Assembly talk.





On 21 Apr, we set up a booth at the school canteen after the Assembly talk. We passed additional info on climate change to teachers and students who visited our booth. We manned the booth from 9.30 to 11 am. We left the school at 11.15 am.

Mrs Irene Ong wrote us an email after the event, “Thank you so much for coming to our school to give the enlightening talk on global warming to our students on 2 sessions. Feedback from the teachers were very positive.”
